Wind power equipment manufacturers accelerate their overseas domestic market

Sun Lixiang, deputy general manager of Guodian United Power Technology Co., Ltd., said in an interview with China Securities Journal that wind power equipment manufacturers are inevitably going overseas. The reason is that the domestic wind power market has initially presented the status quo of “more porridge”. In the case of overcapacity, the company has a clear strategic plan for going overseas in 2011.

Analysts said that wind power equipment vendors are facing pressure from increased competition and falling gross margins. The offshore wind power concession bidding that has just ended recently has attracted low-cost on-grid tariffs, which has also accelerated the pace of overseas business development.

The price of the whole machine is reduced by 30% a year.
Sun Lixiang said that there are currently more than 80 wind turbine manufacturers in China, including many unsatisfactory companies, but in any case, the total number has reached several times that of other countries in the world.

It is understood that due to technological advancement, the decline of raw material costs and fierce competition, the market price of China's onshore wind power machine has continued to decline, and has dropped from below 5,000 yuan / kW to less than 4,000 yuan / kW. At the level, the cost will drop by nearly 30% within one year. For the whole machine manufacturer, the decline in gross profit margin has become a huge potential risk. For example, Goldwind’s gross profit margin in the first three quarters of this year fell by 1% year-on-year.

Analysts said that this year China will add 17 million kilowatts of wind power installed capacity, of which the top three equipment suppliers will supply more than 10 million kilowatts. It can be seen that the integration and reshuffle of domestic wind turbine equipment manufacturers is imminent.

It is understood that Guodian United Power is the earliest domestic manufacturer of wind turbines with low voltage ride-through capability, which is also in line with the technical requirements of the grid for wind power grid connection. Despite certain lead in technology, Guodian United Power said that the company must go overseas in the future because there is still a big gap in the core technology of wind turbine manufacturing in China. The company hopes to further develop with overseas wind power giants. Cooperation. At the same time, Goldwind Technology, Huarui, and Changzheng Electric have also accelerated their overseas operations.

Offshore wind power is a competitive place
Recently, the on-grid electricity price generated by China's offshore wind power concession bidding was significantly lower than expected, and even close to the onshore wind power benchmark price, which made the domestic wind power equipment manufacturers feel cool.

In this regard, Shi Pengfei, chairman of the China Wind Energy Association, said that the bidding price of offshore wind power does not reflect the real construction cost of offshore wind power. The reason is that in order to win the bid at a low price, the developers will minimize the budget estimates and risk factors in the plan. In the next 20 years, it is difficult to achieve the operating period, and the bid price is not a reasonable price.

Despite this, global offshore wind power development continues to be explored, and the authority of the National Energy Administration also revealed that similar offshore wind power concession bidding projects will continue to be held in the future to support the development of offshore wind power. Many wind power equipment manufacturers have done their homework in the production of large-capacity wind turbines and technology research and development in the field of offshore wind power.

Data show that in 2009, the world's offshore wind power increased capacity of 690,000 kilowatts, of which China added 63 megawatts, accounting for 9% of new capacity. As of the end of 2009, the global installed capacity exceeded 2.1 million kilowatts. In 2009, offshore wind power accounted for 1.25% of the total installed capacity of wind power of 160 million kilowatts.

Shi Pengfei said that by 2015, China's offshore wind power installed capacity is expected to reach 5 million kilowatts, and by 2020 the cumulative installed capacity is expected to reach 30 million kilowatts.
