Notes on the use of grape ripeners

The ripening agent commonly used on grapes is ethephon. Ethephon is a plant biostimulant that promotes the decomposition of chlorophyll, the formation of pigments, the conversion of organic acids and the formation of fruit aromas. Tests have shown that when the fruit is mature, the seeds are sprayed or dipped in 250-300 mg/kg of ethephon on the ear, which can be matured 6-8 days earlier, and can be eaten on the fifth day after spraying.

Pay attention to the use of ethephon to ripen grapes:

1 concentration should be suitable, the effect of low concentration is not obvious, and when the concentration is higher than 500 mg / kg, it is easy to cause fruit drop.

2 The treatment time is the optimum period when the fruit begins to mature, that is, the colored varieties begin to color, and the white varieties have the best yellowing effect when the fruit is slightly yellowed.

3 The optimum concentration of different varieties of ripening is different, and the production should be tested to obtain the best treatment concentration and method.

4 Because ethephon promotes the formation of the separation layer, the use of ethephon alone causes the fruit to fall off, making the grape ear not resistant to storage and transportation. In order to alleviate this side effect, it can be added when using ethephon. 20 mg / kg of indole acetic acid or 10-15 mg / kg of 2,4,5-T, has a good effect of preventing fruit falling off.
