In the first quarter, Guangxi's forestry industry started a good increase in investment in wood-based panels

In the first quarter of the year, the development of the forestry industry in our region was in a good situation. The total output value of the forestry industry in the region was 27.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21%.

The production and sales of man-made boards have steadily increased. As the man-made board exhibitions were held successively throughout the country, market transactions were active, demand for plywood and finger-joint boards increased, and demand for chipboards was in short supply. The MDF market was slightly stable. The trading activity in the wood-based panel market has led to an increase in the prices of raw materials for the production of wood-based panels. Taking Guigang Forest Product Market as an example, the market price of the 8cm-diameter beech wood reaches 650 yuan per cubic meter, which is 40 yuan more than that in December 2010.

The investment in wood-based panels has grown substantially. In the first quarter, 36 wood-based panel projects were approved by the Autonomous Region Forestry Department, and the newly added artificial-board production capacity was 1.33 million cubic meters, an increase of 170% year-on-year. A number of wood-based panel projects have been started or put into operation one after another.

Rosin market is mixed. As domestic and foreign economies gradually emerged from the impact of the financial crisis, the demand for rosin in the domestic and foreign markets increased, and the export volume of rosin in China increased substantially. The prices of rosin and turpentine continued to rise. At the end of March, the market price of rosin-producing areas in Guangxi has exceeded 21,000 yuan per ton, an increase of about 7,000 yuan, or 50% year-on-year; the average market price of turpentine oil is 26,500 yuan per ton, which is an increase of about 4,000 yuan or a year-on-year increase of 20%. Due to the reduction of pine resources, the production of rosin has been on a downward trend. Rosin and turpentine prices are expected to show high fluctuations this year. The relevant responsible person of the Autonomous Region Forestry Department analyzed that rising prices of rosin and turpentine oil have brought benefits to forest farmers and fat farmers on the one hand, and brought good economic benefits to rosin production companies; on the other hand, they have formed large scale for deep processing enterprises and other downstream users. The increase in pressure and production costs makes it more difficult for companies to operate.

The construction of major industrial projects has progressed steadily. The first phase of the project of Guangxi Jingui Pulp and Paper Project has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of pulp production line which was completed and put into production last year. The first phase of the project, with an annual output of 600,000 tons of papermaking projects, is progressing according to plan. It is expected that civil engineering projects will be completed in July and August of this year. Daguishan Forest Farm Industrial Park, China-ASEAN (Nanning) Forestry Industry Logistics Park, Guangxi Beibu Gulf Modern Forestry Industry Processing Base, and China-ASEAN Flower Industry Park’s four key forestry industrial parks have steadily advanced.

According to statistics, the output value of forestry primary industry in our district was 9 billion yuan, up 12% year-on-year; the output value of the secondary industry was 17.6 billion yuan, up 28% year-on-year; the output value of the tertiary industry was 1.2 billion yuan, unchanged from the same period of last year. The output value of wood processing completed in the region was 10.5 billion yuan, an increase of 48% year-on-year, and 23.3% of the annual target was achieved; the pulp and paper output value was 4.28 billion yuan, an increase of 4% year-on-year, and 21.4% of the annual target was completed; 2.92 million cubic meters, an increase of 52% over the same period last year, and completed 20.8% of the annual target.
