Low temperatures in winter and frequent low temperature frosts are not good for piglets. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the care and management of piglets in order to improve the survival rate.
1. Improve the environment of the pig house. In general, piglets should maintain a temperature of 28-30 °C within 3 days after delivery and should maintain a temperature of 25-26 °C within one week. Therefore, preparation must be done before the sow is born: a layer of even dry straw or soft dry mountain grass is placed on the concrete floor of the pig pen, and then sacks are placed on it. If the pig house is not well insulated, it is best to use the incubator in the winter, that is, use the wooden box or the thick bottom case to put the insulation material for the pigs to rest. In cold or rainy weather, a 40-watt light bulb should be hung in the box to increase temperature and light.
2. Prevent dystocia or miscarriage. In the sow prenatal period of time, every day should be allowed to sow more sun and appropriate exercise to enhance physical fitness, but also by feeding concentrate. Pregnant sows should not feed on acid-smelling feed. When cleaning the pig house, don't bump the sow, and you can't use the sweep or stick to beat the sow. When the sow is born, it cannot be separated from the person. It must be kept day and night to prevent the occurrence of dystocia and prevent the sow from crushing the piglets.
3. Care for the weak piglets. Piglets are generally free to harvest milk after birth for more than 10 minutes. However, weak piglets are unable to find nipples because of weakness in their limbs. Therefore, artificial aids should be given in order to allow weak piglets to eat colostrum within one hour after delivery. Immediately after the delivery of the sow, the weak piglets should be placed on the nipples with more milk in front, so that they can develop their habits, eat and drink, and enhance their physical fitness. Feeding should be done one week after the birth of the piglet to prevent breast milk shortage.
4. Prevent piglet diseases in time. Understand and master the pig's coat color, feed intake, tail swing, urine color and shape, anus hygiene, etc. Piglets are born for about one month, and should be injected with swine fever, pig erysipelas and swine plague vaccine. In order to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in piglets.
