It is well known that when cutting a herringbone gear, the two halves of the herringbone spiral must be placed at the midpoint of the undercut. The error is recommended according to the "Mechanical Engineering Manual": the gear with 8 precision is within 0.5mm, and the gear with 7 precision is within 0.2mm.
