The standard states that food fortifiers added in *** include potassium iodate, potassium iodide, and algae iodine. Standard introduction, after adding iodine fortifier in ***, the average level of iodine content (in terms of iodine) of *** product (**) is 20-30mg/kg. *** The allowable fluctuation range of iodine content is ± 30% of the specified average *** iodine content. The health administrative departments of the people's governments of provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government shall, within the prescribed scope, select the average level of iodine content appropriate to the local conditions according to the actual iodine nutrition level of the local population.

This national standard has reduced the average level of iodine content in ***. Previously, according to the "Summary of the Food Hygiene Enhancer Use Hygiene Standard" No. 1, the salt iodine fortification amount was 20-60 mg/kg.

The draft of the “*** Iodine Content” was released in July 2010. According to the preparation of the draft, the current level of iodine in salt is relatively high. Although the national level is at an acceptable level, about 5 provinces are in excess levels and 16 provinces are above the appropriate level, so there is room for downward adjustment.
