HC Plastics News: Inciting foreign media reports, Samsung selected the newly developed Novodur Xspray grade styrene from Styrolution, a subsidiary of INEOS, and applied it to new refrigerators and vacuum cleaners to give it a metallic appearance.
In order to obtain the high-end metal appearance of household and electronic equipment favored by consumers, Samsung sought an environmentally friendly product from Styrolution, a styrene supplier based in Frankfurt, Germany, which has excellent coatability. Excellent metal appearance, easy to process and high-brightness coating. Most ABS grades on the market require 422 to perform additional primer treatment prior to color and clear coating process to improve the chemical resistance required for high brightness coating.
Novoli's newly developed Novodur Xspray is an ABS synthetic material that provides the chemical resistance and paint adhesion required for high-brightness coatings. Novodur Xspray also eliminates the need for a primer treatment process that is environmentally friendly and reduces costs. In addition to refrigerators and vacuum cleaners, Novodur Xspray can also be used in other household appliances such as coffee machines, air conditioning enclosures and washing machine covers.
Dr. Jung SeopLim, Principal Engineer of Samsung Electronics, said: "Based on the current consumption trend of high-end metal appearance for household and electronic products, we are confident that Novolid Xspray from Inrx Group will lay the benchmark for achieving superior metal appearance and good chemical resistance. ."
