With the help of REC Solar (OSL:REC) and Gehrlicher Solar, IKEA will install rooftops in Draper, New Haven, Connecticut and Portland, Oregon. About 10,000 solar panels.
The three new installations can generate 3,156 MWh per year, which will use solar energy from IKEA's US branches with the help of REC Solar (OSL:REC) and Gehrlicher Solar. Ikea (IKEA) will be based in Draper, Connecticut. About 10,000 solar panels are installed on the roofs of the New Haven and Portland stores. The three new installations can generate 3,156 MWh per year, bringing the number of solar projects at IKEA's US branch to 23.
The 1,013kW equipment installed on the roof of the Draper branch uses 4,311 solar panels in 127,000 square feet of space, while the Portland branch installs 2,072 panels that can produce 487.3kW on a 62,500 square foot roof. Both devices are installed by REC. Content from the photovoltaic portal news website Global photovoltaic network
Gehrlicher Solar was responsible for the installation of the New Haven project, which installed 3,920 panels on the 118,000-square-foot space on the roof of the store, generating 940.8 kW.
All photovoltaic equipment is owned by IKEA and is responsible for its operation. Construction is expected to begin next year and construction will be completed in the spring.
Mike Ward, president of IKEA (USA), said: “We are very pleased that the panel installation of these three stores will enable us to successfully roll out the solar energy plan across the country. This is the company's sustainable development activities. In part, it can reduce the carbon content of the grid and the IKEA carbon footprint in the United States."
