On January 8th, the Chengcheng Police Station of the Chengmai County Public Security Bureau received a report from Liao Mou that: At 0:20 on the day, Liao Mou took a bank debit card to an ATM at a Jincheng branch of a bank in Chengmai County to withdraw money. Because the criminals used plastic sheets to block the cash ejection port of the cash machine in advance, the machine only spit out the withdrawal documents but did not spit out the cash. Liao saw a note on the cash machine that read: "If the ATM transaction is unsuccessful, please transfer the money to the 60138278xxxxxxxxxxx account, please dial 67xxxxxx". So he called the phone, and the other party claimed to be a bank clerk, saying that the bank is currently upgrading the system and needs to transfer the money on the card to the designated account. Liao Mouxin believed it was true, and twice transferred 6970 yuan from his debit card into the designated account, of which 5,000 yuan was taken away, and the balance was frozen in time by the bank.

Also on January 8th, after 9:20 pm that day, the automatic cash outlets of 6 ATMs in Danzhou BOC, ICBC and CCB were blocked by criminals inserting a black or off-white plastic sheet, which was artificially manufactured. The failure, and at the same time posted a "friendship reminder" advertisement on the cash machine, tricked customers into transferring funds on the bank card.
