The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is implementing a system to enable FSC certificate holders to better comply with European timber regulations.
The FCS statement will raise the requirements of its own standards so that the FCS certificate winner's standards are in line with European timber management requirements, including the revision of forest management.
The European Timber Regulations will be implemented in 2013 to severely punish merchants importing illegal timber, while requiring some companies to first ensure the supply of timber on the market to reduce the flow of illegal timber into the market.
The new system plan of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is only implemented at the end of 2012.
