Declare war IKEA? Japan's largest home chain enters China

In the Chinese home market, compared to bird-like, Sweden's IKEA (IKEA), which entered China earlier, clearly has a higher visibility.

According to reports, Japan’s largest home furnishing chain, NITORI Holdings, announced on December 1 that it will establish two more subsidiaries in China. The two subsidiaries are Birdlike (Taicang) Business Logistics and Birdlike ( China) Co., Ltd., with an investment capital of 10.8 billion yen (about 560 million yuan), is used to achieve the goal of increasing the number of stores in China in 2022 to 100, which will challenge IKEA's position in the Chinese home market.

The first bird-like store in China opened in Wuhan Aeon Mall on December 19 last year. It plans to open another five stores in 2016-2017 and plans to increase the number of stores in China to 100 by 2022.

Previously, the subsidiary company in China was mainly responsible for the procurement business for the Japanese market. The two companies established this time, the bird-like (Taicang) trade logistics company is scheduled to be established before the end of the year, officially put into operation in December 2016, and like Bird (China) as a sales company, will be responsible for the development and sales of new stores in China.

Birds are growing rapidly in the Japanese home market with low prices as a selling point, and now it is copying this selling point to China. The bird-like shop in China is called “NITORI”, and the target customer group is a young couple in the 20-30s. It will focus on the display of furniture and other home decoration schemes to attract customers.

The bird-like plan controls the price of the best-selling products sold in China to the same level as the local low-priced goods in China. The goods will be produced by a bird-like cooperative factory in China and a bird-like factory in Vietnam and Indonesia. In addition to the furniture and home department stores sold in the Japanese market, the bird will also explore the development of products that meet Chinese specifications. Like Birds, we will control costs and increase price competitiveness through a trading and logistics network that has been built in the export business to Japan.

However, compared to bird-like, Sweden's IKEA (IKEA), which entered China earlier, clearly has a higher visibility.

IKEA currently has more than 300 stores in about 30 countries, and has 18 stores in China's Beishangguang and other cities, and is a leader in terms of popularity and sales.
