A few days ago, several well-known domestic space experts gathered in Beijing Aerospace City to participate in the "Space Edge Tourism Project" overall design program seminar. In the future, in the space sightseeing cabin, occupants can see the magnificent space sunrise and space sunset. This signifies that the space dream of ordinary Chinese people has begun. The era of Chinese civil space tourism is approaching.
Can search for "strontium" detectors in space
At present, the "space edge tourism project" has received technical support from a number of China Aerospace authoritative scientific research institutions. The project uses a high-altitude helium-balloon to carry the flight mode of a manned sightseeing cabin. The occupants will reach the outer edge of the space except for 99.85% of the atmosphere (40,000 meters in height). During the flight, occupants can see deep space scenery, more than 1,000 kilometers of the earth's arc, a spectacular space sunrise, and space sunset scenes in the sightseeing cabin, as well as transient weightlessness. In cruising flight, the occupants can clearly see the crater of the moon. They can search for the "Chang" detector and the landing point of "Apollo Moon". They even have the opportunity to observe rare scenes such as the red flash, the blue jet, and the coronal mass ejection.
In the course of five hours of flight, the occupants can enjoy special scenery of different heights under the double protection of special pressurized clothing and sightseeing cabins. A series of scientific experiments will also be completed. For most ordinary Chinese, this will be an extraordinary life experience.
Wear pressure suit and special parachute
According to the project team’s aerospace experts, the tourist cabin designed for the project and the special booster service ensure the occupant’s sightseeing effect and comfort. The project has set up multiple security measures to ensure the safety of occupants. “This project has also developed an emergency rescue device that is specially developed for pressurized suits. It includes a special parachute that enables passengers to jump parachute, experience extreme skydiving, or use for emergency response.†After the completion of the development phase, Several test flights will also be conducted, and then another flight will be conducted for manned sightseeing flights.
It is understood that space tourism is the future blue ocean industry. According to a U.S. agency research report, in 2012, the global aerospace market reached 340 billion U.S. dollars. Many countries and companies are investing human and material resources in the development and operation of this activity. China’s “Space Flight ***†formulated in 2011 made clear: “Encourage all sectors of society to participate in space activities. Encourage industrial enterprises, scientific research institutions, commercial enterprises, institutions of higher learning, and social organizations to give play to their respective strengths under the guidance of the national space policy. Actively participate in space activities and participate in international exchanges and cooperation in the field of space."
Want to swim in space must first pass the "space assessment"
According to Jiang Fang, president of the project party Beijing Gold Ocean Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd., he will gradually enter the product design and manufacturing stage, and will also select personnel to participate in the flight. Participants will receive special space explorer training under the guidance of relevant aerospace experts. Only after passing the assessment can they participate in the flight.
Jiang Fang also called for the country to quickly formulate legislation for civil space activities: First, allow or encourage private enterprises to participate in space activities, specify specific policies to facilitate the entry of private capital into the aerospace field, and second, regulate the management of space tourism-related commercial activities. Develop appropriate management methods for different forms of civil space activities such as R&D, testing, exploration, agency and commercial flights. Relevant departments will introduce legislation on civil space activities as soon as possible, which will be conducive to the healthy growth of Chinese private space tourism companies, and will be integrated with the world’s space tourism industry to promote the overall development of national science and technology.
